The supervisor wrote our design brief. EIOPA’s Financial Stability Report asks the European insurance sector for exactly the counsel the ancient kings of Sumer kept seven sages at court to provide — forward-looking, system-wide, able to see how one risk feeds another before the shock lands.

This inaugural edition reads that report requirement by requirement and maps each onto the seven domains, then takes the measure of the year across physical risk, disclosure, litigation, capital and nature.
